What's On My Happy List?

Saturday Oct. 16, 2010
My girlfriend threw a 80's 'British Invasion' party tonight for her English husband's 40th birthday.
And I got to help decorate. One of my favorite things was the backdrop that we did with 80's album covers. This shows about sixteen of a gazillion albums that they have. You should see their collection! Some of my favorite 80's songs just happen to be from English bands (go figure!)...Pet Shop Boys, OMD, Oingo Boingo, Thompson Twins. However, Depeche Mode was and still is the guest of honor's favorite, so we tried to use his D M paraphernalia as much as we could. What he'd let us touch anyway. He's got it under lock and key.
Some came dressed up in 80's attire. This couple won hands down.
The cake was another fav.
Cathy and I splattered it out on her driveway with red and blue food coloring... graffiti style....
We displayed all sorts of candy that came out in the 80's...Pop Rocks, Airheads, Whatchamacallits (did I spell that right?), Runts, Sugar Daddy's, Nerds...
and basically any candy that rolled with the color scheme. The jar of English chocolates had a collage of pictures of Ed growing up in England. Part of his invites. So cool!

Gotta love the old cassette tapes...and THAT picture of Sting...ummm... just a tad bit distracting...he's hot!

Cathy is an amazing cook. She made all sorts of foods, some of Ed's English favorites along with food that was popular in the 80's. potato skins for one. Love it!

Second party of the week for me. Waiting for my photographer friend to get back from vacation so I can post the pictures she took of the shower I threw earlier this week. (She takes way better pictures than I do.) And another party is in the wings for next week. We are going to par...ty, and party har...dy with my friend Mar..ty, you don't know a Mar...ty but it rhymes with PAR...TY, that's kinda smar...ty! haha! Too much Hannah Montana around here. Anyhoo, I love me a party! Stay tuned for more party ideas...
