Surviving the first week back in School

Summer vacation has officially come to an end. Boo. It always seems to fly by leaving us wondering where it went. The only thing I look forward to on the first day of school is once we've gotten the kids off I have my traditional going out for breakfast at Kneaders with girlfriends. Here are the girls, last Monday, on the first day of school.

Hannah Banana is going into 4th grade. Her third grade teacher is actually teaching 4th grade this year so she gets to have the same teacher again, which we are so thankful for because her teacher is THE BEST! Hannah is into Disney's 'Wizards of Waverly Place' so she was decked out with wizard t-shirt, back pack and lunch box. She just got braces on her four front teeth a few weeks ago which she was so excited about.

Emmsie is a 6th grader. AHHHH! Can't believe this is her last year of elementary school. She just got contacts a few weeks ago...now you can see her beautiful brown eyes better.

Kyleigh is a big 8th grader and is loving the comeback of the 80's clothing! The 6:15 am wake up time is a kicker for her but she is a trooper!

Here Kyleigh is at the bus stop with some neighbors. Can you believe how tall the neighbor boy is? He's only in 9th grade!

Brie doesn't start preschool for another two weeks but she got to start her very first dance class this week. She loved it...now she's a dancer like her big sisters.

Just a few random summer happenings that I haven't gotten around to posting until now...

Attending the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House

I was able to take the younger three girls and attend the Temple Open House with the Youth in our ward. Little Brie asked me the day we were going if she would feel the Holy Spirit there. How stink'in cute is that?

Kyleigh managing to get her guy friends to do her chores...

During the summer Kyleigh had the responsibility of mowing the lawns on Tuesday nights. One Tuesday night several weeks back a bunch of her friends wanted to get together to play night games. Her guy friends, knowing her plight of not being able to go until she got the lawns mowed, came and mowed the lawns for her! How nice is that? I just couldn't help taking a picture, much to their dismay I'm sure, especially for the boy that mowed over a sprinkler head and broke it. He felt sooooo bad and was willing to pay for a new one and come fix it as well. It was not a big deal at all! The whole thing was a hoot to watch so I couldn't help but post it.

Our two trips to Scofield taking neighbors and friends with us AND our neighborhood Family Night at the Drive In Theatre... Why the camera didn't accompany me on these outings I'm not quite sure but I have no pics to post....but nonetheless they made our "Happy List."

Camping Trip to Payson Lake-

One of the funnest things we did this summer was go on a camping trip to Payson Lake with my brother and sister and their families.

Here is Jaren and the girls putting up the tent. Just the thought of it makes me laugh as this was the FIRST time the whole family had ever slept in one. It was a borrowed tent from a neighbor. haha! We've never had to accumulate much camping gear over the years as we've always had the trailer at Scofield to go to... beds. flushing toilet. shower. kitchen....my kind of camping. So this was a new adventure for all of us.

We had a blast playing in the lake on tubes, rafts, jumping off the pier and trying to simultaneously stand on the tree log.

We had relaxing moments visiting (here Brie is with Uncle Randy)and some darn good laughs around the campfire. Can anyone say pottie humor?
We all had so much fun we want to do it again next summer!

Girls Trip To Vegas

Oh my goodness..long time no post! I'm way behind with blogging as of late but had to post about one of the highlights of my summer. Last month I went with two of my sisters, Kyleigh and two nieces to Vegas to see IL DIVO in concert at the Mandalay Bay. We had the BEST time together. Here are some things that made our Happy List...

*decorating our car for the drive down...we had writing ALL over it..."What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"...Sebastien is our passion...that sorta thing

*the cars that would drive up close on the highway just to read what was written on our car...the car full of guys whooping and hollering at us was the most memorable..I think they thought we were heading to see Chip and Dale or Thunder Down Under..lol

*"This is my favorite!"

*117 degree weather

The highlight of the trip for all of us was when Marci was able to hand the American and French flags to Sebastien during the encore song Amazing Grace. Those are the same flags I took to the Utah concert- I had wanted to give the French flag to Sebastien that night but the opportunity never came like I had hoped. But somehow, out of the 12,000 fans there in Vegas, Marci managed. So there Sebastien was... on stage... singing... holding MY FLAGS...and we even got a picture! He even personally thanked her for them which made it even more of a special moment for her. (and me) Of course the rest of us were up in the rafters wigg'in, watching all this and the other interactions they had with Urs, Carlos and David. What a memory! What a night!
