What's on my Happy List Today?

My apron...my girlfriend and I attended a friend's boutique where I purchased this cute thing. There were so many fun fabric combo's to choose from but this one caught my eye. I love the black and white combo with a hint of pink...it looked so Parisian to me that it was calling my name. I've never really been an apron wearer before but thought I'd give it a try since there was a whole article in the newspaper a few weeks back about aprons making a fashion comeback. LOL... Anyhow, I thought this would be fun to wear at the next party I'm throwing. Check out maven-designs.com to see other creative fun stuff from a very talented friend.

Honoring the Pioneers on this Days of '47 State Holiday...


Going to the London Market...After Grandma and Grandpa took us to lunch at one of our favorite places, Crown Burger, we thought with all the Harry Potter hoopla lately it would be fun to go to the London Market. Kyleigh picked out a few Harry Potter items to buy with her babysitting money....BTW, she finished the 7th book in less than 24 hours and is 3/4 through the 6th book for the third time.


On the way home we tried some of these Harry Potter Bertie Botts flavored beans such as sardine, dirt, soap, earthworm, vomit, earwax....It produced some giggles and turned up noses. It was fun, yet so disgusting at the same time.

Birthday Wishes-Our neighbors, George and Joan, who are world travelers and two of my favorite people, share the same birthday which is today. Little Brie Olivia is quite taken with George and always has to give him knuckles every Sunday at church. We paid them a visit this afternoon with a fresh pineapple wishing them a Happy Birthday.

I've been wanting to get a picture of Joan, on her infamous pink bike with a basket, for quite some time now. She indulged me by hopping on it today, even in the rain, so I could do just that. She is our ever devoted Relief Society President and you'll often see her on this bike throughout our neighborhood doing her church work. She cracks me up!

We literally went through a bug storm on our way home from Scofield Saturday. It was like we were in the movie "BIRDS" but with bugs instead. Our car was so disgustingly dirty with flies plastered all over it that guess what we got to do for Family Home Evening tonight? We had a car wash!

What's on our Happy List Today?

Scofield- We spent two days up at Scofield with our neighbors this weekend. The kids spent hours together taking turns riding in the boat and playing in the sand. My friend, along with her daughter and two of mine, got an adventurous streak in them and decided to see if they could make it out to the island, which is about a mile from the shore. About half way, through our binoculars, we could tell they were at a standstill.... wondering if they could really reach it and if they should keep going. Kyleigh, my eleven year old, is one who insisted they continue their journey and they finally reached the island in about 45 minutes. Kyleigh swam the majority of the way there. She is one driven kid! On the way back they all decided to ride in the boat and it took them only half the time to get back. They had a blast! Next time I'm bringing my swimsuit so I can do it. It sounded so fun. We were so proud of them for their determination and not giving up. What an accomplishment you brave girls!!!

There were nine of us girls on this trip....and believe it or not most of us were brave enough to touch the snake that Clint grabbed out of the water.

We had so much fun doing the above plus watching movies, playing games, doing a Dutch Oven dinner and making smores by the campfire. Thanks for a great weekend guys!

Harry Potter-Because of our trip to Scofield, Kyleigh, my die hard Harry Potter fan, was not able to attend Friday night's Midnight Magic Party like she did when the last book came out. She was a little disappointed but Grandma took care of her and had the seventh and final book waiting for her when she got home late last night. Guess what she's been doing today since she got home from church? When I was at camp the three older girls went to the Harry Potter movie with Dad. They said the fifth movie is their favorite one so far.....

A Wedding-Also while we were gone, Aunt D arrived home from Portugal a MARRIED woman. Here are a few pictures from her special day last Wednesday. When she notified us that there was going to be a wedding at 11:00 a.m. on that specified morning, we did think for a split second if we shouldn't get up at four in the morning our time to celebrate.... so we would feel like, in spirit at least, that we were part of the wedding celebration too. Although I'm not one to miss a good reason to celebrate, a restful night sleep won over with this one. Congratulations you two!!!

Dori's new father-in-law is a Chef. This is just one of the many dishes that he made while she was there. This was one of her favorites. He now calls it something something (I know no Portuguese) a la Dori.

That made me laugh since I was looking for one of those things just the other night, as you can see from my previous post. Thank you, Thank you!

What's on my Happy List Today?

Our post camp get-together- The Queenly Mamas met today for lunch to talk and reminisce about our Stake camp last week. It was really all in an excuse for Karen (our awesome cook while we were there) to feed us one more time. I wrote up a Happy List of our time together in the land of CAMP-A-LOT and gave them each a copy along with a new pair of knee high nylons as our official camp memento. Without the camp pictures, that I still haven't gotten yet, I don't have visual aid to explain THAT.... so I'm not even going to try, but I must say I will never look at another pair of nylons quite the same ever again! I'm posting my Happy List of Rough Camp more for personal journaling purposes than anything. As clearly anyone, other than my committee, would not understand the humor I find in all of it.

Birthday Wishes-On behalf of the Salt Lake City Diva's, I wished IL DIVO's Urs Buhler, from Switzerland, a Happy Birthday today on IL DIVO's official website. I was really wanting, in honor of his birthday, to have one of these delicious Swiss Milk Chocolate, with honey and almond, candy bars but the two stores I was in tonight didn't carry them. WHAT!!?!?!?! So my attempts to celebrate didn't go quite as planned but the thought of doing so and the excuses I make to celebrate anything and everything made my happy list.

Holy Moly, it has been awfully hot around here lately.... not quite as hot as our days in Arizona, so I can hardly complain, BUT this is how we've been trying to stay cool....

These last pictures have nothing to do with my theme today of stay'in cool but they make my happy list anyway as I just got them emailed to me today. We had a little Parisian Sunday morning breakfast a week and a half ago when our friend was here from Houston. We had the best crepes, made from an authentic crepe making pan brought back recently from Paris. So yummy!

The three of us showed up a tad bit color coordinated in black and white (kinda funny) so we HAD to get a picture. I'm glad we got this pic for more reasons than one...The least important being it will be the last time I'm seen in this black and white getup, as this skirt (unfortunately one of my fave's) got TOTALLY ruined in the wash while I was gone to camp. Those in the fam doing the laundry while I was gone felt sooooo bad. SO did I, darn it!

These souvenirs that my girlfriend brought back for me from her recent trip to Paris. A gorgeous pink and black scarf and a couple of trinkets, one even with some bling! She knows me well. I flipped when she gave them to me today. Thanks Heather!
